GRATITUDE FOR GOOD
A Blog by Gratitude Alliance
By Rachel Crowther (Reposted from The Gracias Foundation, now called Global Gratitude Alliance) A couple of weeks ago, Amy and I were chatting with a friend over beers after Pilates class. It was a perfect afternoon, exercise, sun and a favoured type of light refreshment! We were having a conversation about The Gracias Foundation, and Amy summed up our philosophy as follows; “It’s about giving from a place of gratitude, not because you feel guilty." It works something like this: · We have a gift, the gift of comfortable lives, great restaurants and bars (to enjoy that beer), vacation time and family. And on a personal note, access to Pilates classes in English, even though I live in Switzerland!
· We feel appreciation for these gifts, and a sense of gratitude and goodwill for this abundance. · We want to express this somehow, to give back, in whatever way we feel is meaningful for us. In my case, it’s volunteering with and donating to the Gracias Foundation, which reinforces my sense of well-being and happiness, as well as helping to empower women and children via the projects Gracias partners with. And it also inspired me to draft this at the weekend! Read more about our philosophy here: Our Giving Philosophy |
