GRATITUDE FOR GOOD
A Blog by Gratitude Alliance
(Reposted from The Gracias Foundation, now called Global Gratitude Alliance) Last month, Sacha Staheyeff and Jack Crowther, two students from the International School of Berne in Switzerland, accompanied Gracias co-founders on a field visit to Kenya, to help build a small library at Maisha children's home while learning about the challenges and joys of semi-rural farm life in Kenya. Once completed, the library – funded by a Maisha donor and the volunteers' families – contained some 370+ books. The kids now have their own much-needed textbooks for both current and future school years. They also stocked up on school supplies like notebooks, pens and pencils, calculators, and geometry kits, as well as reference books like dictionaries, world atlases, and other study aides.
And, to engage imaginations, the library was stocked with a variety of storybooks for kids of all ages, with children’s classics in English like The Three Little Pigs and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and culturally relevant Swahili books for both kids and teens. We are so proud of our student volunteers! Stay tuned for more stories about their experience... |
